MorningStar Senior Living in Houston, TX seeks a Maintenance Assistant for a full-time role. The position involves performing preventive maintenance, repairs and replacements across building systems, equipment and fixtures to support resident comfort and safety.

Responsibilities include HVAC filter replacement, plumbing and electrical repairs, painting and carpentry, while ensuring safety and adherence to policies. Compensation is hourly with benefits and consistent weekend schedule options.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED preferred or equivalent.
• One year of maintenance related experience preferred.
• Ability to read and understand specifications and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Replace float units in toilets and washers and remove sink traps for cleaning.
• Replace and clean air filters in HVAC units, washers, dryers, and related equipment.
• Repair windows, screens, blinds, doors, hinges and locks.
• Repair stoves, ovens, washers, dryers and related appliances.
• Replace light bulbs, fuses, outlets and electrical components.
• Repair beds, wheelchairs and bathroom safety rails.
• Paint walls, ceilings, doors, frames and fixtures.
• Build shelves, tables, benches and bulletin boards.
• Maintain tools and organize workshop and stock.
• Fulfill work orders, maintain safety and follow company procedures.
