Job summary

The Aspenwood Company - The Village of River Oaks in Houston is seeking a full-time Maintenance Assistant to keep a safe, well-maintained living environment for residents. You’ll handle routine maintenance tasks, assist with projects, and respond to on‑call duties as needed.

The role requires hands-on skills, basic HVAC/plumbing/electrical knowledge, and a commitment to safety. Weekend and holiday availability is required, with a 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. schedule and a $20/hr pay rate.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Physical stamina and dexterity.
• Experience using hand and electric tools.
• Ability to read technical manuals and drawings.
• Basic knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems.
• 1-2 years of related experience.

Responsibilities

• Complete all assigned maintenance work orders and prepare vacant resident rooms as directed by the Supervisor.
• Coordinate and assist with special projects as directed.
• Monitor work performed by outside contractors to ensure it meets company standards.
• Be available for 24-hour emergency maintenance service as scheduled, carrying a pager or cell phone for on-call duties.
• Perform cleaning tasks such as dusting, mopping, and ensuring all areas are tidy and functional.
• Install appliances and equipment as needed.
• Maintain the garden/yard, including mowing lawns and collecting trash.
• Inspect and troubleshoot equipment and systems like ventilation to ensure they are working properly.
