Job summary

ISH Dining Services seeks a Cook in the Food Service Department to prepare and cook meals for residents, staff and visitors. You will follow recipes, ensure sanitary food handling, and help maintain production sheets and dietary plans.

Reporting to the Food Service Director, you will support operation needs, supervise peers when needed, and participate in life safety drills while upholding residents' rights and confidentiality.

Qualifications

• Must possess at least a high school diploma or GED.
• At least two years of experience in healthcare or related industry.
• Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
• Ability to work with peers in a congenial environment while upholding residents’ rights.
• Willingness to work weekends and holidays as needed and be on-call for staffing.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook a wide variety of foods for residents, staff and visitors.
• Follow recipes and schedules; perform cleaning duties as assigned.
• Direct other food service staff in the absence of supervisors.
• Ensure sanitary handling of food and compliance with regulations.
• Prepare meals per physician prescriptions and dietary plans.
• Follow menus, avoid food waste and maintain equipment and production sheets.
• Communicate with Food Service Director and collaborate with staff to provide high-quality service.
