Job summary

Milestone is seeking a Cook to join our culinary team, reporting to the Director of Culinary Services. The role prepares and serves meals that meet nutritional standards while supporting dining operations and resident satisfaction.

Responsibilities include following approved menus, maintaining safe food handling, and mentoring kitchen staff. A strong candidate will be 18+, with relevant food service experience and First Aid/food safety credentials.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum one year of food service experience; three years preferred.
• Food Handler’s Permit (as required by state).
• First Aid certification required.
• Must be 18 years or older.
• Compassion for and desire to work with older adults.
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and make decisions under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Prepare meals according to approved menus and dietary requirements.
• Ensure food is safely stored, cooked, and served at proper temperatures.
• Maintain a clean, safe kitchen environment, including all equipment and prep areas.
• Assist in training and mentoring culinary staff.
• Monitor and respond to resident preferences and satisfaction.
• Uphold safety and health standards, including food safety compliance.
• Foster teamwork and contribute to a positive, collaborative work environment.
• Report any elder maltreatment or abuse as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
