Job summary

Manor Lake Horizon is seeking an attentive food service worker to prepare and serve meals for residents in a senior living environment. You will help with menu planning, proper storage of foods, and maintaining sanitary conditions throughout the kitchen and dining areas.

The role requires 18+, English proficiency, and prior food service experience. Responsibilities include assisting with cleaning, inventory, and supporting a safe, hygienic, resident-focused environment.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Background screening required by law.
• Must read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Demonstrates professionalism, empathy, patience, and effective interpersonal skills.
• Prior relevant experience in the food service industry.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve meals according to planned menus and portion control.
• Assist in proper storage of raw and leftover foods.
• Assist and direct daily or scheduled cleaning duties.
• Follow Standard Precautions and sanitary, safety and infection control policies.
• Maintain sanitary work areas and food storage.
• Ensure equipment and supplies are properly maintained and arranged.
• Maintain good personal hygiene.
• Report hazards, equipment issues, accidents, and incidents to leadership.
• Dispose of food and waste per policies.
• Wear protective clothing when handling infections, waste, or bodily fluids.
• Maintain and file menus; complete required forms for the Culinary Director.
• Review menus and inspect trays for accuracy and diet preferences.
• Attend orientation, projects, or requests as directed by management.
• Maintain a professional rapport with staff, residents, families, and visitors.
• Assist in inventory and storage; advise Culinary Director on department needs.
• Represent the department professionally and contribute to a service-oriented environment.
• Perform other tasks as requested by Culinary Director or Executive Director.
