Job summary

Manor Lake LIVING is seeking a kitchen helper/cook to prepare and serve meals for residents in a senior living community. You will follow planned menus, assist with storage and sanitation, and support daily cleaning and inventory tasks to ensure high quality food service.

The role requires 18+ years of age, English proficiency, hospitality mindset, and prior food service experience. Background screening is required. Prior work with seniors is preferred.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Background screening requirement per applicable law.
• Must read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Must demonstrate professionalism, empathy, patience, and effective interpersonal skills.
• Prior relevant experience in the food service industry.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve meals in accordance with planned menus and established portion control procedures.
• Assist in ensuring proper storage of raw and leftover foods.
• Assist and direct the daily or scheduled cleaning duties.
• Perform all daily tasks in accordance with Standard Precautions and sanitary, safety and infection control policies.
• Ensure that the department and all food storage along with work areas are maintained in a sanitary manner.
• Maintain necessary equipment and supplies.
• Maintain good personal hygiene.
• Report hazardous conditions, equipment, accidents and incidents to the Culinary Director/Executive Director.
• Dispose of food and waste per policies.
• Wear protective clothing and equipment when handling infections, waste, or bodily fluids.
• Maintain menus and complete forms/reports for Culinary Director.
• Review menus prior to preparation and inspect trays for accuracy.
• Attend orientation, projects, or requests by management.
• Develop and maintain good working rapport with personnel.
• Assist in inventory and storage of incoming foods, supplies, and equipment and advise Culinary Director on department needs.
• Conduct yourself professionally and contribute to a service-oriented environment.
