Job summary

CHESTNUT GROVE ASSOCIATION INC in New Milford, CT is seeking a skilled Chef to oversee all culinary activities in our Independent Living facility. You will plan menus, direct food preparation, and ensure timely service of up to 3-course meals daily for residents.

The role requires leadership, budget awareness, and strict adherence to food safety. A full-time position with flexible hours; meals are served 363 days a year.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures.
• Excellent leadership and communication skills.
• Understanding of food cost control and budget management.
• Certification from a culinary school or degree in Culinary Arts is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan and direct food preparation and culinary activities
• Shop for all food needed (Either food delivery or store shopping)
• Create innovative menus and develop new recipes
• Ensure compliance with food safety standards and regulations
• Monitor food inventory levels and order supplies as needed
• Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment
