Job summary

Discovery Commons Orland Park seeks a Director of Facilities to lead all building, grounds, and maintenance operations for the community. You will drive safety, preventive maintenance, and resident-focused service while leading staff and coordinating with vendors.

Responsibilities include capital projects, budget monitoring, and ensuring compliance with life safety and environmental standards. This is a full-time, on-site role with occasional after-hours support.

Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years in a maintenance leadership or supervisory role.
• Experience developing preventative maintenance programs.
• Experience managing vendor contracts and capital projects.
• Strong leadership and team-building abilities.
• Proficient with regulatory standards for life safety and environmental rules.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily maintenance and facility operations to keep systems safe and functional.
• Develop and execute preventative maintenance in line with standards and policies.
• Supervise maintenance staff and housekeeping/transportation teams where applicable.
• Ensure HVAC, plumbing, electrical, fire panels and emergency systems operate reliably.
• Manage vendor contracts and capital projects, ensuring quality and timeliness.
• Monitor budgets and contribute to capital planning and cost controls.
• Conduct inspections prior to occupancy and support renovations to maintain quality.
