Job summary

Discovery Senior Living is seeking an Executive Chef for Aston Gardens at Pelican Pointe in Venice, FL. You will lead the Culinary Services Department, plan menus, supervise staff, and ensure high-quality dining aligned with resident needs.

You will oversee budgeting, vendor contracts, and safety compliance while delivering chef‑prepared meals that enrich residents’ daily living in a pet‑friendly, community setting.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of culinary leadership in high-volume environments.
• Hands-on kitchen management experience including staff oversight.
• Food Safety Certification required.
• Strong knowledge of sanitation, food handling, and loss prevention.
• Experience with menu engineering and cost controls is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily culinary operations and participate in meal preparation.
• Plan and execute menus meeting resident dietary guidelines and preferences.
• Monitor food quality, presentation, and safety standards.
• Oversee purchasing, inventory, and vendor contracts.
• Manage budgets and control costs; take corrective action as needed.
• Recruit, train, schedule, and evaluate culinary staff.
• Lead orientation and on-site training for team members.
• Engage with residents during meals to ensure satisfaction.
• Collaborate with Executive Director to align food services with community goals.
