Job summary

Viva Senior Living is seeking a Cook to prepare and serve meals per nutrition plans and standards. You will ensure presentation, quality, and safety of all foods while maintaining efficient kitchen operations.

The role requires reading and speaking English, and a high school diploma or GED. You may be asked to assist with training and to participate in life safety drills as part of duties.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Must possess at least a high school diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

• Ensure all menu items are prepared and served according to departmental policies and procedures.
• Assure that the presentation of all menu items adheres to established standards.
• Prepare meals on menus and based on nutritional programs and individual plans.
• Ensure the quality of meals in regard to taste, presentation and dietary requirements established by the Dining Services Director.
• Ensure quality and safety of food by performing standard sanitary measures including cleaning of surfaces and proper storage of food items.
• Work at efficient and consistent pace.
• Ensure timely preparation of all meals.
• Ensure that each resident receives meals matching their dietary requirements.
• Ensure correct quantities are prepared to meet daily needs.
• Stay productive and prepare for future needs as time allows.
• Assist with training of new employees.
• Serve food in the proper portion size and temperature.
• Follow reporting procedures for accidents and incidents to ensure follow-up and prevention.
• Adhere to regulations including blood borne pathogens, infection control, hazardous materials and fire safety.
• Maintain inventory levels to support volume.
• Participate in life safety and emergency drills and trainings.
• Complete assigned training and skills competency.
• Fulfilling responsibilities during emergency plan activation.
• Protect residents' privacy and report any abuse or maltreatment.
