Job summary

Avamere Skilled Advisors, LLC in Utah seeks a Cook to prepare nutritious meals for residents across varying levels of care, ensuring dietary restrictions are met and sanitation standards are maintained.

You will prepare appealing meals, adapt recipes for dietary needs, and help create a warm, home-like dining experience while ensuring safety and cleanliness.

This position offers day and weekend shifts with $18-$20/hour DOE, and opportunities to grow within a caring, team-focused environment.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years of Cook experience; hospital or healthcare facility preferred.
• Current ServSafe Manager certification (or willing to obtain within 30 days of hire).
• Ability to read, write, and follow oral and written directions with attention to detail to follow recipes and production sheets.
• Requires a current Food Handlers card issued by local Health Department.
• Demonstrates knowledge of high standards of food preparation, sanitation, and safety with on-the-job training.

Responsibilities

• Execute daily menus for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, ensuring food is visually appealing, properly seasoned, and served at the correct temperature.
• Prepare alternative menu options and snacks as needed for residents with changing appetites.
• Adapt recipes to meet dietary needs (e.g., low-sodium, diabetic-friendly, vegetarian, texture-modified).
• Address dining challenges of memory care residents (finger foods, enhanced flavors, flexible dining times).
• Maintain a calm, clean dining environment and follow ServSafe guidelines.
• Adhere to strict food safety, handling, and storage regulations, and ensure kitchen cleanliness at shift end.
• Collaborate with Dietary/Dining Services Director and nursing staff to align care plans with resident diets.
• Maintain a resident-first approach and build relationships to understand preferences.
