The role involves daily menu execution, dietary adaptations, sanitation, and collaboration with nursing staff to align care plans with resident diets. Strong attention to detail and teamwork are essential for success.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years of Cook experience, hospital or healthcare setting preferred.
• Current ServSafe Manager certification or willing to obtain within 30 days.
• Ability to read and calculate recipes and production sheets accurately.
• Requires a current Food Handlers card issued by local Health Department.
• Must possess an active CPR/BLS Certification and maintain certification during employment.
• Demonstrated knowledge of high standards of food preparation and sanitation with on-the-job training.

Responsibilities

• Execute daily menus for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, ensuring proper temperature and appealing presentation.
• Prepare alternative menu options and snacks for residents with changing appetites.
• Adapt recipes to meet dietary needs (low-sodium, diabetic, vegetarian, texture-modified).
• Accommodate memory care dining challenges (finger foods, flexible dining times).
• Create a calm, structured dining environment that encourages socialization.
• Maintain ServSafe-compliant food safety, handling, and storage practices.
• Ensure kitchen, prep areas, and dishwashing stations are cleaned and sanitized after each shift.
• Monitor and log food and refrigerator temperatures daily for quality control.
• Collaborate with the Dietary/Dining Services Director and nursing staff on care plans.
