Job summary

Dial Senior Living in Omaha, NE is seeking a professional cook to independently prepare meals and manage food production for residents. You will support the Sous or Executive Chef, ensuring high-quality, safely prepared meals, accurate portioning, and attractive presentation, while maintaining kitchen cleanliness and coordinating pantry supplies.

The position requires 2+ years of cooking experience in senior living, healthcare, or a restaurant setting, with a focus on food safety and teamwork

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• 2+ years cooking experience in senior living, healthcare, or restaurant setting.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook a variety of meals for residents with attention to quality and presentation.
• Alter or adapt recipes to accommodate special dining needs of residents or to improve recipes.
• Ensure attractive presentation of food on the plate before serving.
• Identify food and supplies needed for the next week’s menus and report to the supervisor.
• Participate in new menu and special menu planning.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of work area and kitchen/storage areas.
• Ensure proper handling, labeling and storage of food for infection control.
• Prepare meats for storage and portion control upon delivery. Ensure proper storage of all delivered foods and ingredients.
• Assist with dishwashing and kitchen sanitation, as needed.
• Notify manager of food supply needs and malfunctioning equipment or appliances.
• Assist in the recording of Ready – to – Use – food items into the TELS website. Three items should be recorded for every meal.
• Record cooler, freezer and dish machine temperatures in the TELS website.
• Report any on-the-job injuries to the supervisor before the end of the work shift on the day the injury occurs.
• Maintain confidentiality of verbal and written information pertaining to residents, community operations and personnel.
• Other duties as assigned.
