Job summary

Great-Lakes-Management-Co. in Bloomington, MN is seeking a dedicated Activities Assistant to support the Director of Resident Services by planning and leading a variety of programs that meet seniors’ social, physical, mental, emotional, and sensory needs.

Responsibilities include assessing residents’ interests, promoting events, coordinating transportation for outings, and supervising volunteers to ensure engaging, safe group activities.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year activities experience in independent retirement, assisted living, adult day services or long-term care facility serving a senior population.
• Valid Driver’s License and acceptable driving record.
• Class C license, or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire.
• Ability to use basic Windows, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) computer programs.
• Creativity in developing and planning activity programs.
• Group leadership and interpersonal skills to lead one on one, small, and large group activities.
• Strong organizational skills and good work ethic.
• Ability to read, write, spell, do basic math, speak and understand English.

Responsibilities

• Assist Activity Coordinator with planning, promotion, and facilitating/leading each event or program.
• Assess resident’s recreational and social needs.
• Support development of monthly Activity Calendar of Events.
• Lead small, large and one on one activity programs with seniors.
• Research and recommend speakers, church representatives, etc.
• Coordinate transportation for outside events/programs and accompany residents on field trips.
• Work cooperatively with volunteers and direct their assignments.
• Maintain the bus interior and exterior.
• Report maintenance needs timely.
