Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Prefer a degree in Recreational Therapy from an accredited program.
• Eligible for NC license as an occupational therapist or assistant therapist, or eligible for NC certification as a recreation therapist or assistant therapist, or completed an approved 36-hour or longer course in activities program management.
• Previous Activities Director or Long Term Care experience preferred.
• Strong computer skills and ability to multitask with residents and staff.
• Valid NC Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

• Plans, promotes, and leads individual and group activities based on needs and interests of the residents.
• Informs new patients and families about the Activity Program of the Facility and unit.
• Completes an Activities Assessment on each designated resident according to documentation policies and procedures.
• Conducts recreational activities, both indoor and outdoor.
• Conducts educational, creative, expressive activities and exercise.
• Supervises scheduling and posting of all events and programs to encourage participation.
• Supervises Volunteer Program, training and placement of volunteers.
