Job summary

Homewood Retirement Centers, Inc. seeks a Recreation Program Coordinator to develop and coordinate activities for independent living residents, meeting social, educational and physical needs.

Two years of senior-care planning experience, strong English communication, and CPR/First Aid certification are required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Publisher, plus ability to drive and manage event logistics, are essential.

Qualifications

• Two years' experience in planning/coordinating programs/event and working with the senior population.
• Ability to read, write and understand English well. Excellent verbal, written communication and customer service skills.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Office, to include, Publisher.
• Ability to set up, manage and utilize digital equipment, programs, applications, etc.
• Ability to listen and to communicate to residents at a level they can understand.
• Ability to and enjoys encouraging and motivating older persons.
• Qualities of creativity, resourcefulness and imagination in planning resident activities with attention to details.
• Position may require the ability to drive Homewood's van and has a valid driver's license.
• Must possess current CPR and First Aid certification.

Responsibilities

• Develops plans and coordinates the recreation program for residents, primarily independent living.
• Coordinates programs, trips, events and activities to meet social, educational and physical needs.
• Develops and distributes communications/publications (newsletters, calendars, flyers) in electronic or print form.
• Manages event logistics: room reservations, setup, cleanup, decorations, refreshments; arranges transportation.
• Works with the volunteer director to assign volunteers and leverage resident talents.
• Facilitates functions for external groups and weekend/evening activities.
• Maintains records of events and reports changes in residents' health to staff.
• Oversees technology for activities (enrollments, displays, equipment).
• Performs other duties as directed.
