Job summary

Fox News Media seeks a Broadcast Production Engineer in Washington, DC to support on-air production systems in a 24/7 news environment. You will coordinate with IT/helpdesk and engineering teams, maintain both legacy and modern broadcast equipment, and ensure uptime across studios, control rooms, and remote sites.

The role requires strong technical skills in SMPTE standards, Calrec/RTS systems, and IT/networking, with a flexible schedule and ability to work with NY teams as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer science, or related majors, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years' experience in broadcast production and live television.
• Extensive knowledge of SMPTE standards for broadcast video and audio environments.
• Strong troubleshooting and repair skills for broadcast equipment.
• Experience with SDI and 2110 IP routing environments.
• Familiarity with studio technologies including video walls, robotic cameras, and NRCS workflows.
• Proficiency with MS Windows workstation and server platforms.
• Experience with file-based workflows and enterprise Media Asset Management (e.g. Dalet).
• Ability to interpret technical documentation and work in a 24/7 live production environment.

Responsibilities

• Support infrastructure for on-air broadcast production systems.
• Oversee studio operations including video walls, video processing, and cameras.
• Supervise live control room production systems and related subsystems.
• Handle infrastructure like routers, intercom, monitoring, and live production equipment.
• Provide maintenance and support for off-site locations including government buildings.
• Address and manage technical issues in a live production environment.
• Maintain subsystems with updates, modifications and replacements.
• Develop benchmarks and deployment documentation for operations.
• Collaborate with teams using latest production systems and technologies.
• Maintain legacy broadcast environments (pathbays, fiber, serial) as needed.
