Job summary

OpenAI’s Global Events Studio Team seeks a senior Audio Engineer to oversee high-profile livestreams, broadcasts, and studio productions. You will design resilient audio systems, serve as A1 for critical events, and ensure exceptional spoken-word audio across live, recorded, remote, and AI-enabled workflows.

You will lead audio crews, manage signal paths, and coordinate with cross-functional teams to deliver broadcast-quality results under pressure. Travel and onsite presence in SF are expected.

Qualifications

• 8+ years engineering complex live, broadcast, and studio production.
• Expert command of gain structure, routing, EQ, dynamics, automixing, feedback control, real time noise suppression, mix-minus, IFB, intercom, playback, comms, and latency management.
• Strong experience designing and troubleshooting redundant audio paths (program, stream, multitrack, backup-recorders).
• Proficient with networked audio systems and IP networking concepts.

Responsibilities

• Own audio design and A1 execution for complex broadcasts, live events, and studio productions.
• Build and operate redundant audio paths with real-time monitoring and recovery procedures.
• Mix full-duplex speech-to-speech audio between humans and AI models.
• Lead audio crews and freelancers, and communicate decisive options under pressure.
• Own multitrack recording, delivery, and archival workflows across professional formats.
