Job summary

Protouch Staffing is seeking a Senior Litigation Paralegal to work closely with attorneys on pleadings, discovery, depositions, subpoenas, court filings, calendaring, and trial preparation in Los Angeles. The role also involves supervising legal assistants, mentoring, and providing Spanish interpretation when needed.

Candidates should have at least five years of litigation paralegal experience and strong knowledge of California civil procedure.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of litigation paralegal experience.
• Strong working knowledge of California civil procedure, discovery rules, and state court filing requirements.
• Experience drafting complaints, discovery, deposition notices, subpoenas, and other litigation documents.
• Exceptional calendaring and deadline-management skills.
• Ability to independently manage multiple cases and competing priorities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience supervising or mentoring legal assistants.
• Spanish-speaking ability preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Draft, file, and coordinate service of complaints and other litigation documents
• Draft and serve deposition notices
• Prepare subpoenas for non-party witnesses, treating providers, and other relevant parties
• Prepare discovery requests and objections and assist attorneys with reviewing and finalizing discovery responses
• Coordinate process service and track completion
• Monitor answers, responsive pleadings, and entry of defaults
• Assist with trial preparation, including filing trial documents and coordinating witness and expert testimony schedules
• Prepare and file pleadings and other legal documents in compliance with court and jurisdictional requirements
• Maintain comprehensive case calendars and monitor statutes of limitation, hearing dates, discovery deadlines, and other procedural deadlines
• Communicate with court clerks and opposing counsel to facilitate case progression
• Identify and address procedural issues before they impact a case
• Communicate directly and professionally with clients regarding case-related matters
• Provide Spanish interpretation for Spanish-speaking clients when necessary
• Assist attorneys with case preparation and settlement efforts
• Anticipate attorney and case needs rather than waiting for assignments
• Resolve issues involving clients, opposing counsel, court personnel, and vendors
• Supervise, mentor, and delegate assignments to legal assistants
• Ensure delegated work is completed accurately and on time
• Serve as a knowledgeable resource regarding litigation procedure, calendaring, filings, and case management
