Job summary

BrightPath Early Learning & Child Care is seeking an experienced Assistant General Counsel, Litigation to lead the organization’s litigation and dispute-resolution strategy. The role partners with the Chief Legal Officer to manage a broad portfolio across multiple sites, including child-safety and regulatory matters, with emphasis on mitigating risk and supporting growth.

Qualifications

• JD from an accredited law school and active license in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
• Minimum 10 years of legal experience with significant litigation responsibility.
• Demonstrated experience managing complex litigation and directing outside counsel; strong analytical and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Company's litigation portfolio in partnership with the CLO; oversee claims, lawsuits, arbitrations, mediations, and pre-litigation disputes.
• Develop and execute litigation strategies balancing legal, financial, operational, and reputational considerations.
• Manage outside counsel, including strategy, budgets, staffing, and case outcomes.
• Evaluate litigation and settlement opportunities and advise executive leadership on risk and exposure.
• Oversee discovery, document preservation, witness preparation, and trial preparation; report on significant litigation and legal spend.
