Job summary

The Hartford in Texas seeks an experienced Staff Attorney or Senior Staff Attorney to litigate cases across Austin, San Antonio and Houston. The role requires strong trial and civil litigation experience in tort, premises, products liability, and auto cases.

The position reports to the Staff Legal Managing Attorney. Qualified candidates will have a JD and Texas admissions, with 3+ years (5+ for senior) of civil tort experience, excellent research and writing, and the ability to manage cases from

Qualifications

• JD from an accredited law school and licensed to practice in Texas.
• Active Bar membership in good standing.
• Minimum of 3 years of civil tort matters experience.
• Senior Staff: 5+ years of civil tort matters; first/second chair jury trial preferred.

Responsibilities

• Handle complex and high exposure litigation.
• Analyze intricate substantive and procedural legal and factual issues; conduct extensive legal research and develop defense strategies.
• Prepare complex pleadings, discovery, depositions, motions and briefs in support of defense strategies.
• Provide effective communications and legal advice to clients and claims customers in a technology driven environment.
• Independently prepare witnesses and present evidence at trials, hearings and ADRs.
