Job summary

Stoel Rives LLP in Seattle seeks a senior litigation associate with 7+ years of complex commercial litigation experience to join our Litigation Practice Group. This role focuses on leading motions practice, drafting and arguing dispositive and non-dispositive motions, and owning deposition strategy with minimal partner oversight.

You will direct discovery, manage ESI protocols and privilege analyses, and drive case strategy while coordinating with clients and cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of complex commercial litigation experience, preferably at AmLaw 100/200 firm.
• Ability to lead matters independently, including owning key strategic decisions and supervising teams.
• Extensive experience in motions practice and depositions.
• Deep discovery management experience, including ESI, privilege issues, and vendor coordination.
• Strong command of the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure and Evidence.
• Exceptional written and oral advocacy skills with client-ready work product.

Responsibilities

• Lead motions practice: draft and argue dispositive and non-dispositive motions.
• Own deposition strategy and execution; plan and prepare witnesses.
• Direct all phases of discovery; manage ESI protocols and privilege analyses.
• Drive case strategy; align tactics with business objectives and client needs.
• Serve as primary day-to-day client contact with status updates and budgets.
• Lead hearings and proceedings; oversee trial preparation and examination.
• Manage matters holistically; budgeting, staffing, timelines, and risk mitigation.
• Supervise and mentor junior associates and paralegals.
• Coordinate cross-functional teams with internal and external stakeholders.
• Contribute to practice development and client pitches.
