Job summary

KIPP Memphis is seeking a Literacy Director to drive literacy and English language arts achievement across campuses. This role sets the vision for rigorous reading and writing instruction, builds teachers' capacity, and ensures curriculum, data, and intervention systems accelerate literacy outcomes including ACT readiness.

The role works with school leaders, instructional coaches, and the academics team to ensure access to excellent English instruction and targeted support to close literacy gaps.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Minimum 5 years of teaching experience in literacy/ELA.
• Experience teaching high school English.
• Prior experience coaching or leading adults.
• Deep knowledge of literacy standards and ACT/PreACT alignment.

Responsibilities

• Provide real-time coaching and modeling for teachers.
• Lead curriculum planning and lesson internalization.
• Analyze student work and data to inform instruction.
• Develop literacy interventions and monitor progress with RTI.
• Collaborate with campus teams to set literacy priorities.
• Represent literacy instruction network-wide when needed.
