Job summary

KIPP Memphis Public Schools in Memphis, TN is seeking a Literacy Director to lead literacy and English language arts across campuses, setting a rigorous vision and building instructional capacity.

The role focuses on coaching teachers, planning aligned curriculum, analyzing student work and data to accelerate reading and writing progress, and coordinating interventions and assessment alignment with ACT and state tests.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in education or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of teaching experience with literacy/ELA.
• Experience teaching high school English and aligning instruction to ACT/state assessments.
• Experience coaching or leading adults.
• Strong knowledge of K–12 literacy standards and assessment literacy.

Responsibilities

• Provide real-time coaching and instructional modeling for teachers, including live observation and feedback, co-teaching, and demonstration lessons.
• Build teachers' capacity to deliver rigorous literacy instruction across reading, writing, and language standards.
• Analyze student work and writing outcomes to identify trends in student understanding and inform coaching priorities.
• Develop literacy intervention strategies for students reading below grade level and coordinate with RTI staff.
• Align instruction to ACT, PreACT, and state assessments and monitor progress.
• Collaborate with school leaders to strengthen English instructional practices network-wide and plan staff development.
