Job summary

KIPP Memphis seeks a Literacy Director to drive literacy and ELA achievement across campuses. You will set vision for rigorous reading/writing instruction, build instructional capacity, and align curriculum, data, and interventions to accelerate student literacy progress.

You’ll work with school leaders, coaches, and the academics team to ensure all students access excellent English instruction and close literacy gaps, including ACT/PreACT alignment and state assessments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Minimum of 5 years of teaching experience in literacy/ELA.
• Experience teaching high school English/literacy.
• Experience coaching or leading adults (teachers, coaches, or instructional leaders).
• Deep knowledge of K–12 literacy content and standards-aligned practices.
• Experience using student work and assessment data to guide instruction.

Responsibilities

• Provide real-time coaching and instructional modeling for teachers, including live observation and feedback.
• Support lesson planning and curriculum planning with standards-aligned instruction.
• Analyze student work and assessment data to identify trends and inform coaching priorities.
• Develop literacy intervention strategies and align instruction to assessment expectations.
• Collaborate with school leaders to strengthen English instructional practices network-wide.
