Job summary

Everforth Apex Systems seeks a Sr Linux Systems Engineer to lead the migration from Windows to Linux for a connected/edge device platform. The role focuses on OS hardening, securing components, and building automated fleet management for Linux-based devices.

You will collaborate with development, infra, and operations to ensure functional parity and minimal downtime, while documenting repeatable processes for scale.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of system design experience or equivalent.
• Proven Windows-to-Linux migration in production with minimal downtime.
• Deep expertise in Linux distributions (Ubuntu/Debian), including hardening, packaging, and configuration management.
• Experience with automated system management, patching, access management, and monitoring.
• BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Assist design, planning, and execution of Windows-to-Linux migration (host OS, apps).
• Analyze Windows app dependencies to guide Linux migration strategy and target architecture.
• Collaborate with development, infra, and operations to ensure parity and requirements.
• Identify and resolve compatibility issues, drivers, and blockers during migration.
• Ensure hardened OS configuration for secure distribution.
• Document end-to-end fleet management processes (imaging, patches, upgrades).
