Job summary

Bloom Energy seeks a Senior Engineer, Linux Systems Administrator to join on-site in San Jose, CA. You will manage production Linux environments, plan upgrades, and develop automation across multiple data center and application environments.

Role requires 5+ years of Linux administration, scripting skills in Shell/Python/Perl, and hands-on experience with Docker, Git, Nagios and VMware. Excellent collaboration and security-focused mindset are essential.

Qualifications

• 5+ years’ experience managing and maintaining a production Linux (CentOS, RedHat) environment.
• Expertise in Linux-based systems and OS services at scale.
• Familiarity with Windows Server and Active Directory; security hardening against attackers.
• Experience with automated configuration management using Docker and Git.
• Experience with version control, bug tracking, release management, and code review.
• Proficient in Shell scripting, Perl, Python, and/or PHP.
• Proven ability to lead large deployment projects in a team.
• Experience in SAN multipathing software and VMware virtualization.

Responsibilities

• Maintain Linux server operating systems and uptime.
• Plan and execute Linux system upgrades and patches.
• Provide support for new applications and upgrades to existing systems.
• Develop automation scripts for consistency across environments.
• Plan, install and configure Linux systems; collaborate with teams.
• Monitor critical systems and take preventive actions.
• Establish security and integrity controls; manage hardening.
• Troubleshoot software and hardware failures; resolve network issues.
