Job summary

Bloom Energy in San Jose, CA, is seeking a Senior Software Engineer, DevOps to design and build robust DevOps tooling and infrastructure. This on-site role will drive automation, CI/CD, and scalable systems across on-prem environments, reporting to the Sr Director of Software Engineering.

You will develop Python-based automation, manage Kubernetes clusters, and collaborate with engineering for reliable deployments and secure SDLC practices.

Qualifications

• 6-8 years of DevOps experience with strong debugging and integration skills.
• Strong Python development skills; familiarity with Go, Rust, or C++ is a plus.
• Experience with Kubernetes, IaC, CD, and modern development workflows.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain DevOps tooling, automation, and infrastructure workflows.
• Stand up and manage Kubernetes clusters outside cloud providers (bare-metal or on-prem).
• Implement and maintain infrastructure-as-code, policy-as-code, and config-as-code patterns.
• Debug and troubleshoot complex system and integration issues across services, middleware, and data layers.
• Develop scripts and tools—primarily in Python—to support automation, CI/CD, and integration tasks.
• Work with databases and middleware technologies to support service integrations and reliability.
• Follow strong SDLC discipline including documentation, testing, code reviews, and operational readiness.
• Collaborate closely with engineering teams on architecture, deployments, and operational improvements.

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer, DevOps to join our team in one of today’s most exciting technologies. This role will report to Sr Director Software Engineering and based in San Jose, CA. This is a fully on‑site, in office role 5 days a week.

Role and Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain DevOps tooling, automation, and infrastructure workflows.
• Stand up and manage Kubernetes clusters outside of cloud providers (bare‑metal or on‑prem).
• Implement and maintain infrastructure‑as‑code, policy‑as‑code, and config‑as‑code patterns.
• Debug and troubleshoot complex system and integration issues across services, middleware, and data layers.
• Develop scripts and tools—primarily in Python—to support automation, CI/CD, and integration tasks.
• Work with databases and middleware technologies to support service integrations and reliability.
• Follow strong SDLC discipline including documentation, testing, code reviews, and operational readiness.
• Collaborate closely with engineering teams on architecture, deployments, and operational improvements.

Required Skills and Experience

• 6-8 years of strong DevOps background with excellent debugging and integration skills.
• Solid development skills using Python; familiarity with compiled languages (e.g., Go, Rust, C++) is a plus.
• Strong understanding of: Middleware components and service communication patterns Databases (SQL/NoSQL), time‑series databases Event driven architectures and highly scalable systems Kubernetes cluster lifecycle and administration Infrastructure‑as‑code / configuration management tools Proficiency with git and modern development workflows.
• Strong SDLC discipline, engineering rigor, and attention to detail.

Nice to have Skills

• Experience writing and maintaining Helm charts.
• Deep familiarity with containers and package registries.
• Knowledge of secure SDLC workflows and software supply chain considerations.
• Experience with observability stacks (metrics, logging, tracing).
• Ability to design CD patterns using GitOps (ArgoCD, Flux, etc.).

Compensation

The total compensation for this position includes standard company benefits and is based on various factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills and experience. #LI-JM Salary Ranges: $134,500.00 - $193,500.00
