Job summary

Shield Consulting Solutions is seeking a highly experienced Systems Engineer with active TS/SCI w/Polygraph. This full-time role is on-site in Laurel, MD and requires extensive Linux and virtualization expertise, including VMware, Splunk, and Ansible.

You will lead Systems Engineering initiatives, configure IT infrastructure, and provide ongoing support for mission-critical IT environments. Candidate must have 20 years in system engineering plus a technical degree (or equivalent experience).

Qualifications

• 20 years experience as a system engineer.
• Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline; 5 additional years of experience may substitute for the degree.
• Strong background in Linux and virtualization, and modern automation/configuration tools.

Job Description

• Configure, manage and troubleshoot Linux operating systems. Installs/loads operating system software, troubleshoot and maintain integrity and configures network components along with implementing operating systems enhancements to improve reliability and performance.
• Extensive experience with VMWare
• Demonstrated experience with modern automation/configuration tools such as Splunk or Ansible
• Demonstrated experience in planning and leading Systems Engineering efforts is required
• Provides support for implementation, troubleshooting and maintenance of Information Technology (IT) systems.
• Manage IT system infrastructure and any processes related to these systems.
• Provide support to IT systems including day-to-day operations, monitoring and problem resolution for all the client/server/storage/network devices, mobile devices, etc.
• Provide support for the dispatch system and hardware problems and will remain involved in the resolution process.
• Optimize system operations and resource utilization and perform system capacity analysis and planning.
