Job summary

Exegy seeks an experienced System Engineer to join the Managed Services Engineering team in St. Louis, MO. You will lead Linux provisioning, infrastructure networking, and automation efforts to turn bare-metal servers into production platforms.

Responsibilities include designing automated provisioning workflows, maintaining configuration management with Puppet and Ansible, and supporting deployment and operations teams as a senior escalation resource.

Qualifications

Senior-level Linux systems engineering on RHEL and Rocky Linux 9/10 with RHCSA/RHCE preferred.
Hands-on with Puppet (modules, manifests, Hiera, Facter, Ruby) and Ansible.
Experience with PXE/iPXE, live boot images, unattended installers (Anaconda/Kickstart).
Proficiency in Python and Bash for automation and REST API integrations.
Experience with NoSQL and PostgreSQL databases storing infra/config data.
Deep Linux networking & routing: IP, VLANs, multiple routing tables, ip rule/route, firewall basics.
Experience with VPN/OpenVPN, SSL/TLS certs (OpenSSL), and proxy services (Squid).
Strong Linux troubleshooting using systemd, yum/dnf/rpm, journalctl, strace, etc.
Hardware & out-of-band management: iDRAC/IPMI, BOM verification, Dell/Intel/AMD platforms.

Responsibilities

Design and maintain automated bare-metal provisioning workflows and OS lifecycle processes.
Develop and maintain Puppet and Ansible automation, modules, and data structures.
Create Python/Bash tools for preboot staging, hardware discovery, and validation.
Administer Linux networking, VPN, proxy services, and certificate lifecycle management.
Define and validate BOMs for enterprise servers and manage out-of-band config.
Serve as escalation point for deployment, hardware, and networking issues.
