Job summary

Trexquant Investment seeks a hands-on Linux Systems Engineer to build, maintain, and scale on‑premise infrastructure with deep expertise in bare-metal Linux, storage, and automation. You will own servers end-to-end and contribute to reliability in a production‑critical environment.

Responsibilities include provisioning hardware, managing ZFS storage, performing patches, and developing automation with Ansible and Bash. Occasional data center travel is required in Stamford and NYC.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 3+ years of experience managing Linux systems in production.
• Experience with bare-metal Linux servers and storage.
• Proficiency with Ansible for automation.
• Open to occasional travel to data centers.

Responsibilities

• Build, provision, and maintain bare-metal Linux servers.
• Own server infrastructure from hardware to core services.
• Configure and manage ZFS and enterprise storage.
• Monitor and troubleshoot system health and performance.
• Develop automation with Ansible and Bash.
• Perform patching, upgrades, and capacity planning.
• Participate in incident response and root cause analysis.
• Collaborate with engineering and infrastructure teams.
• Contribute to runbooks and documentation.
• Support data center operations and hardware tasks.
• Travel to data centers for maintenance.
