Job summary

Pantex Plant in Amarillo, TX seeks a Linux System Engineer to support national security missions by administering and modernizing Linux systems in a highly regulated environment. You will manage RHEL, Satellite, and Ansible to ensure stability, compliance, and zero-trust alignment.

The role collaborates with engineering, cybersecurity, project management, and operations teams to deliver scalable, automated infrastructure and detailed runbooks for efficient operation.

Qualifications

• Bachelors or higher in a technical field or equivalent experience.
• Hands-on experience administering Red Hat Linux in production.
• Familiarity with Red Hat Satellite for patching and provisioning.
• Experience with Ansible automation and platform deployments.
• Ability to operate in a highly regulated DOE/NNSA environment.

Responsibilities

• Administer and optimize Linux-based infrastructure across a distributed system.
• Manage lifecycle and patching via Red Hat Satellite.
• Automate provisioning, configuration enforcement, and compliance with Ansible.
• Support PKI, certificate-based authentication, and identity management.
• Collaborate with engineering, cybersecurity, and operations teams.
• Maintain runbooks, procedures, and system documentation.
• Provide after-hours support and participate in weekend maintenance.
• Adhere to change control processes and STIG/SRG requirements.
