Job summary

Pantex Plant is seeking a Network Engineer in Amarillo, TX, to design, implement, and manage enterprise networks supporting national security missions. You will balance day-to-day operational support with network modernization initiatives, ensuring high availability, performance, and security across routing, switching, VPNs, and wireless infrastructure.

The role requires strong automation-friendly networking, collaboration with cloud and security teams, and the ability to mentor junior staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in engineering/science/information technology discipline required or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Strong knowledge of enterprise network architectures, security, and troubleshooting.
• Experience with network modernization initiatives and high availability designs.

Responsibilities

• Administer and maintain enterprise networks including routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, and wireless infrastructure.
• Perform network maintenance, upgrades, and security configurations.
• Monitor performance, troubleshoot complex network issues, and ensure security posture.
• Design and deploy scalable network architectures for high availability and growth.
• Collaborate with cloud teams for hybrid networking and ExpressRoute integrations.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior staff.
