HITACHI RAIL is looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated Senior Linux Systems Engineer who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will perform a range of tasks from administrative to strategic. The position is based in Pittsburgh, PA.

We seek a dedicated and curious Senior Linux Systems Engineer to help foster a team of happy engineers delivering quality software quickly, resulting in delighted customers.

• Hardware design

Our stakeholders include:

• Customers
• Software engineers
• Test engineers

• Corporate IT, including cybersecurity

Our technology stack is always evolving. Currently, we use:

• Jenkins for CI/CD
• Git for revision control
• VMWare, KVM, QEMU for virtualization, Docker and Podman for containerization
• Python and Bash for automation tasks
• Django for internal web application development

Required Skills/Experience:

Minimum of 7 years of current hands-on experience in Linux Systems Engineering/Administration.

Desired Skills/Experience:

Cisco Networking Certifications (CCENT or CCNA) are a plus.

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or a related field.
