Job Title: Sr. Linux/HPC Engineer

RedLine Performance Solutions (RedLine) has over 25 years of experience in Linux and HPC solutions engineering services. We are committed to maintaining high standards for our team, enabling us to achieve what others cannot and ensuring staff retention. We are seeking a Sr. Linux/HPC Engineer to support multiple R&D sites for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Agency (NOAA). The candidate must operate effectively as part of a team supporting a mission-critical, multi-site R&D environment.

The role involves supporting scientists who develop models and simulations related to atmospheric, oceanic, and climate behaviors, focusing on societal-relevant model-building such as hurricane prediction and climate change analysis. The environment is complex, heterogeneous, and rapidly evolving. The Sr. Linux Engineer will lead and participate in maintaining and evolving this technical infrastructure, including supporting on-site HPC environments.

US citizenship and the ability to obtain a security clearance are mandatory. This position is remote.

Required Skills:
  1. 7+ years of Linux systems administration experience, preferably in a Red Hat environment
  2. Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, IPv6, and dual-stack networking
  3. Firewall configuration experience
  4. Advanced enterprise storage management skills
  5. Proficiency in creating, validating, and managing X.509 certificates
  6. Experience with DNS administration, including DNS view configuration
  7. Knowledge of multi-factor authentication (MFA) concepts and workflows
  8. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with ability to coordinate remotely across multiple projects
  9. Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  10. Experience scripting in Bash, Perl, and Python within a version-controlled environment (Git)
  11. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, preferably in computer science, MIS, or related field
Preferred Skills/Experience:
  1. System engineering experience alongside system administration
  2. HPC system experience (e.g., parallel file systems, cluster management, archival systems, Infiniband)
  3. Server automation tools (e.g., Puppet, Foreman, Ansible)
  4. Familiarity with hardware and networking equipment (Dell, Juniper, HPE, Spectra Logic, Storagetek, Hitachi-Vantra)
  5. Ability to lead projects and initiatives
  6. Experience with applications such as Trac, Gitlab, OTRS, Mediawiki
  7. Strong virtualization skills, especially with KVM
  8. Experience with authentication systems (LDAP, Globus, OAuth, SSO, bastions)
