Job summary

Levi, Ray & Shoup, Inc. is seeking a Systems Engineer (Linux/Puppet) for a remote contract-to-hire role supporting enterprise Linux across on‑prem and cloud environments. This role emphasizes automation, IaC, and cross‑team collaboration.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in Linux administration, Puppet configuration management, cloud experience (Azure/AWS), and familiarity with security standards and compliance. Strong communication skills are required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of Linux administration or systems engineering in production.
• Experience with RHEL, Rocky Linux, Ubuntu or similar.
• Experience with Puppet and Infrastructure-as-Code concepts.
• Bash scripting experience; Python/PowerShell preferred.
• Experience in regulated/compliance environments and security standards (CIS, STIGs, NIST).
• Azure or AWS cloud experience; AD/Entra ID familiarity.
• Strong troubleshooting and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Support and administer enterprise Linux infrastructure on‑prem and in the cloud.
• Manage provisioning, configuration, maintenance and lifecycle via IaC and CM tools.
• Develop and maintain automation to support operations and infra processes.
• Integrate Linux workloads with Windows-based enterprise environments.
• Assist with hardening, audits, and operational documentation.
• Collaborate with infrastructure teams to improve automation and reliability.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex system and infra issues.
