Job summary

Orange Barrel Media seeks an experienced OS internals engineer to own the platform: secure, stable, and performant across a large fleet of devices. You will lead our infrastructure function and drive kernel/base OS improvements, ensuring changes reach every unit reliably.

You’ll work end‑to‑end on the Linux platform, Ubuntu Core, snap tooling, and display‑server components, shaping security posture, update pipelines, health monitoring, and incident response with clear tradeoffs and migration

Qualifications

• 8+ years running production Linux systems with kernel/storage/networking depth.
• Experience deploying Linux at fleet scale, especially Ubuntu Core.
• Strong security background with patching and vulnerability management.
• Hands-on with display servers and GPU stacks beyond desktop use.
• Ability to mentor engineers and communicate clearly.

Responsibilities

• Own the Linux platform end to end: kernel and base snap versions, patch cadence, image management.
• Run deployment and update pipelines across a large fleet with canaries and rollbacks.
• Maintain display-server layer on embedded and server hardware.
• Define health baselines, monitor performance, and lead root-cause analyses.
