Akamai's Cloud Platform Infrastructure Group - Linux Infrastructure team is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to advance the Linux kernel used in Akamai’s custom distribution. You’ll help develop features, port patches, and fix issues across diverse test and production environments.

You will collaborate with platform, app, and hardware teams, upstream to the open source community, and stay current with upstream kernel changes.

Qualifications

• 5 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree or its equivalent.
• 3+ years of experience in software development in C with a focus on Linux kernel development and scripting (Perl/Python/Shell).
• Solid understanding of Linux kernel internals and experience with Linux kernel debugging.
• Familiar with at least two subsystems: memory management, filesystems, block IO, TCP/IP stack, KVM.
• Good working knowledge of concurrent programming, data structures, algorithms, complexity analysis, and network protocols (TCP/UDP/IP, Ethernet, QUIC, HTTP/TLS).
• Self-starter who collaborates well but can work independently; excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Developing new features to improve performance, reliability, and security of Akamai Cloud Platform.
• Porting existing Akamai modifications to newer versions of Linux kernel.
• Debugging and fixing issues in complex test and production environments.
• Enhancing build and test automation to facilitate Continuous Testing.
• Collaborating with platform, application, and hardware teams; upstreaming work with the open source community.
