Akamai Technologies, Inc. in Cambridge, MA is seeking a Senior II Software Engineer for the Linux Infrastructure team within Cloud Platform Infrastructure Group. You will develop features to improve performance, reliability, and security of Akamai's custom Linux distribution and kernel.

You will port modifications to newer Linux kernels, debug complex environments, and collaborate across platforms. Requirements include 8+ years experience, 3+ years C/linux kernel, and familiarity with x86/ARM

Qualificações

• 8 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree or its equivalent.
• 3+ years of experience in software development in C with a focus on Linux kernel development and scripting (Perl/Python/Shell).
• Solid understanding of Linux kernel internals and Linux kernel debugging.
• Familiarity with memory management, filesystems, block IO, TCP/IP stack, or KVM among others.
• Comfortable with both x86 and ARM CPU architectures.
• Good working knowledge of concurrent programming, data structures, algorithms, and network protocols (TCP/UDP/IP, Ethernet, QUIC, HTTP/TLS).
• Self-starter who collaborates well but can work independently.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsabilidades

• Developing new features to improve performance, reliability, and security of Akamai Cloud Platform.
• Porting existing Akamai modifications to newer versions of Linux kernel.
• Debugging and fixing issues in complex test and production environments.
• Enhancing build and test automation for Continuous Testing.
• Collaborating with platform, application, test, and hardware teams; upstreaming work to open source.
• Staying current with upstream Linux kernel and OS changes.
