Job summary

Apple Inc. in Sunnyvale seeks a Sr. Linux Engineer to own DNS and global server load balancing for Edge Services. You will operate and extend distributed Linux infrastructure, drive observability, capacity planning, and automation, and mentor engineers across software, network, and product teams.

In this senior IC role you’ll manage incidents, contribute to 24x7 on-call rotations, and partner with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, scalable services for Apple’s worldwide infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience operating Linux systems in production
• Working knowledge of networking fundamentals and TCP/UDP
• Experience with configuration management or infrastructure-as-code tooling
• Proficiency in at least one automation language (Python/Go/Rust/Swift)
• Willingness to participate in a shared 24x7 on-call rotation
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience

Responsibilities

• Operates and extends Linux infrastructure across edge sites and data centers
• Owns the reliability, correctness, and performance of DNS and GSLB systems
• Builds visibility with metrics, alerts, and dashboards
• Develops automation tooling across Python, Go, Rust, or Swift
• Guides capacity planning and hardware lifecycle across distributed sites
• Mentors engineers and collaborates with software, network, and product teams
• Partners with cross-functional teams for large-scale rollouts
• Represents team needs to leadership through clear communication
