Job summary

Apple Inc. in Austin is seeking a Linux Systems Engineer to design, deploy, and operate a large fleet of Linux systems powering Apple services. You will lead automation, reliability, and security across both production and non-production environments.

You will work with Puppet/Ansible, Python or Go tooling, and CI/CD practices while collaborating with engineering teams to enable self-service and scalable operations.

Qualifications

• Hands-on Linux systems administration with enterprise distros (RHEL/Oracle Linux/CentOS)
• Bash scripting for automation and operations
• Solid Linux fundamentals (filesystems, processes, users, packages)
• Networking basics: TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, basic firewall
• Python or Go for scripting and tooling
• Git or similar version control
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in CS/IS or related field

Responsibilities

• Deploy, configure, and maintain large-scale Linux systems across production and non-production environments
• Develop and maintain automation/configuration tooling (Puppet/Ansible or similar)
• Write and maintain operational tooling in Python or Go to improve reliability
• Debug complex system issues from apps to kernel and drive resolution
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and version control practices
• Partner with engineering teams to promote self-service tooling and service democratization
• Help enforce security hardening and compliance across the fleet
