Job summary

Apple is seeking a senior infrastructure engineer to own and extend the Edge Services DNS and GSLB systems. You will operate distributed Linux infrastructure as code, define observability and SLOs, and build automation that reduces toil across data centers and edge locations.

You will mentor engineers and collaborate with software, network, and product teams to ensure reliable, scalable services. The role requires production Linux experience, strong networking fundamentals, and expertise in IaC

Qualifications

Experience operating Linux systems in production, including software deployment and CI/CD workflows.
Working knowledge of networking fundamentals with hands-on troubleshooting TCP/UDP and layer 2-3 issues.
Experience with infrastructure-as-code tooling (Salt, Ansible, Puppet, Terraform) and observability tooling (Prometheus and Grafana).
Proficiency in at least one programming language used for automation and tooling (Python, Go, Rust, or Swift).
Willingness to participate in a shared 24x7 on-call rotation.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Responsibilities

Operate and extend distributed Linux infrastructure as code across geographically dispersed sites.
Define and maintain observability, alerting, and service-level objectives that keep the systems healthy.
Build automation that removes operational toil and plan fleet capacity and hardware lifecycle across globally distributed sites.
Mentor engineers while partnering with software, network, and product teams; participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation.
