Job summary

tastytrade in Chicago seeks a Senior Linux Infrastructure Engineer to own the systems layer of production, from hardware to configuration management. This hands-on role involves tackling incidents, designing scalable systems, and evaluating new software architectures.

You'll own Linux performance, troubleshoot hard problems, write and maintain Salt/Ansible/Chef/Puppet code, run Kubernetes/Nomad workloads, and manage networking, DNS/DHCP, and observability with Elastic/Nagios/Icinga.

Qualifications

• 6+ years in a Linux systems, infrastructure, or SRE role.
• Expert-level Linux with performance analysis and Troubleshooting.
• Experience with Salt, Ansible, Chef, or Puppet.
• Kubernetes or Nomad experience in production.

Responsibilities

• Own Linux performance under production load and tune system behavior.
• Lead incident response and write postmortems to prevent recurrence.
• Write and maintain declarative infrastructure code (Salt/Ansible/Chef/Puppet).
• Run containerized workloads on Kubernetes or Nomad and ensure reliability.
• Manage networking, DNS/DHCP, and observability tooling in production.
• Operate virtualization across VMware/Xen/KVM and secure credentials with Vault.
