tastytrade in Chicago, IL is seeking a Senior Linux Engineer to own the production systems stack from hardware to configuration management. This hands-on role involves incident response, system design for scale, and evaluating new software architectures.

You will lead Linux performance tuning, troubleshoot hard problems, write declarative configuration code, and operate containerized workloads on Kubernetes or Nomad. A strong scripting background and networking fundamentals are essential.

Qualifications

• 6+ years in Linux systems, infrastructure, or SRE roles.
• Expert-level Linux performance analysis and troubleshooting.
• Proficient in Bash; working Python for automation.
• Experience with declarative config management tools.
• Production experience with container runtimes and orchestration.

Responsibilities

• Own Linux performance; tune systems under production load.
• Lead incident troubleshooting with methodical testing.
• Write and maintain infrastructure as code; versioned.
• Run containerized workloads on Kubernetes or Nomad.
• Automate in Bash and Python; replace manual runbooks.
• Operate core network services: DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, TLS; Nginx/HAProxy.
• Manage virtualization: VMware/Xen/KVM; capacity planning.
• Handle Vault secrets; rotate credentials securely.
• Own observability: Elastic Stack; alerting with Nagios/CheckMK/Icinga.
• Participate in code reviews and change management.
