Job summary

Erias Ventures seeks an Application Engineer to manage Linux VMs and Kubernetes clusters across multiple hosting platforms, focusing on VM health, security hardening, and automation. You will work with Ansible, Rancher, and NiFi to support operations and deployments.

The role requires deep Linux expertise (RHEL 8/9), hands-on experience with OpenStack/VMware/AWS, and strong problem-solving across performance, networking, and security domains.

Qualifications

• Twelve (12) years minimum experience with the specified education track
• Strong Linux skills (RHEL 8/9)
• Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and Rancher for containerized workloads
• Familiarity with Apache NiFi or similar data integration tools
• Working knowledge of Ansible for automation and configuration management
• Hands-on experience managing VMs in OpenStack, VMware, or AWS
• Ability to troubleshoot SSH, performance, and network-related issues in Linux environments
• Experience applying security hardening (STIG, STE/STN) and maintaining compliance documentation (SSP)
• Experience with network flow monitoring tools
• Active Security + Certification
• Monitoring and managing production Linux VMs

Responsibilities

• Manage Linux VMs across multiple hosting platforms and Kubernetes clusters; monitor VM health and security compliance
• Maintain Ansible playbooks and Kubernetes cluster health via Rancher or commands
• Troubleshoot production Linux VMs and Kubernetes clusters; ensure nodes/pods healthy
• Support Apache NiFi deployments; perform configuration updates and resolve issues
• Manage certificate lifecycle (server and PKI) to meet security standards
• Perform software updates, patching, and system hardening via YUM and repos
• Collaborate with development teams and end users for operational support
• Analyze logs and diagnose VM/container/application performance issues
