Job summary

General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT) is seeking a Linux Administrator to support enterprise IT operations. You will install, configure, harden, and maintain Linux servers across production and non-production environments, monitor performance, apply patches, and automate routine tasks.

The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s degree in CS or related field, 5+ years as a Linux administrator, proficiency with major Linux distributions, scripting, and IaC/CaC exposure.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of hands-on Linux SysAdmin experience in enterprise environments.
• Strong knowledge of major Linux distributions and administration.
• Scripting proficiency for automating routine tasks.
• Familiarity with containerization platforms from an operations perspective.
• Exposure to DevSecOps concepts and secure software delivery.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and Configuration as Code (CaC).
• Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP, SSH).

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, harden, and maintain Linux servers in production and non-production environments.
• Monitor performance and availability; diagnose issues and implement corrective actions.
• Apply regular system updates, patching, and security configurations.
• Use scripts and automation tools to streamline admin tasks.
• Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues across Linux systems.
• Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and Configuration as Code (CaC) solutions.
• Support CI/CD pipelines for deployment and environment consistency.
• Maintain up-to-date system documentation and change records.
