Job summary

CEI is seeking a Distribution Instructor to deliver hands-on and classroom instruction for apprentices and journey-level line workers across multiple Reading-area sites. The role emphasizes safety, technical skill development, and professional standards for electric utility operations.

You will teach electrical theory, system operations, and equipment use while mentoring staff and coordinating training with supervisors to meet organizational goals.

Qualifications

• 4-7 years of journey-level experience as a distribution line worker.
• High school diploma or equivalent; instructional training or certifications are a plus.
• Strong knowledge of electrical transmission and distribution systems and safety practices.

Responsibilities

• Deliver training programs supporting field operations, including construction, maintenance, troubleshooting, work methods, and safety procedures.
• Deliver instruction on OSHA, NESC, and company policies.
• Demonstrate and supervise proper use of tools, equipment, climbing techniques, and rigging in classroom and live environments.
• Evaluate trainee progress through practical assessments, tests, and field observations; provide feedback.
• Maintain training records, develop lesson plans, and update curriculum as standards evolve.
• Promote safety culture and model professionalism and teamwork.
• Coordinate with management and other instructors to schedule sessions.
