Job summary
Sarasota County is seeking experienced lifeguards to oversee daily operations at our county-operated beaches. You will supervise Lifeguard stations, lead Beach Lifeguards, and assist in performance evaluations and training.
The role requires active CPR/AED certifications and open water lifeguard experience, with a commitment to safety. Work hours are 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., seven days a week, with 40 hours weekly and opportunities for advancement.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 2+ years of open water lifeguard experience.
- Must pass Sarasota County's Basic Lifeguard Performance Test.
- Current CPR/AED and Emergency Response certificates.
- Must re-qualify biannually.
- Valid Florida driver's license within 30 days of hire.
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily operations of the county-operated beach.
- Supervise Lifeguard stations and Beach Lifeguards.
- Assist in development and training of Lifeguards.
- Assist Lifeguard Captains in performance evaluations.
- Promote appropriate employee conduct and provide counseling as needed.
- Assist in public relations and customer service duties.
