Job summary

YMCA of Metropolitan Atlanta is seeking a Lifeguard II at the Cherokee Outdoor YMCA to assist the Aquatic Director in supervising the pool area and promoting safety. You will support lifeguard rotations, handle incidents, and provide excellent service to members and participants.

Requirements include 18+ age, 2+ years lifeguarding experience, YMCA Lifeguard Certification with CPR/AED/First Aid, and a YMCA Leader Certificate within 90 days.

Qualifications

• 18+ years old.
• Minimum 2 years of lifeguarding experience.
• Current YMCA Lifeguard Certification, CPR, AED and First Aid certifications. YMCA Lifeguard instructor preferred.
• YMCA Leader Certificate obtained within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Assist in maintaining a safe aquatic area and provide real-time feedback to staff.
• Coordinate lifeguard placement and rotations for efficiency and safety.
• Open/close pools and support Aquatics Director as needed.
• May act as a lifeguard and model standards during shifts.
• Serve as first-level contact for incidents and document them.
• Provide quality customer service to members and participants.
• Assist with in-service trainings and attend monthly sessions.
