Qualifications

• Extensive life underwriting expertise with authority on complex cases.
• Minimum 5 years of life underwriting experience.
• Experience with automated underwriting platforms (RHO, PIA).
• Strong communication and stakeholder management; collaborate with reinsurers and vendors.
• Ability to coach underwriters toward digital fluency and new tools.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert judgment on highly complex cases and manage facultative referrals.
• Oversee complex case adjudication during peak volumes.
• Lead and develop a team of underwriters.
• Leverage analytics dashboards to track mortality and metrics; improve processes.
• Pilot and validate new underwriting technologies and vendor solutions.
• Coach and upskill underwriters in analytics and digital tools.
• Negotiate appeals using professional judgment to deviate from guidelines when needed.
• Communicate with field force and home office to gather information and convey decisions.
